The laboratory
LATAMA connects adsorbent development, surface characterization, analytical chemistry, and rigorous adsorption modeling to design scientifically sound solutions for water decontamination.
Synthesis and modification of bio-based, carbonaceous, mineral, magnetic, and nanoscale adsorbents.
Kinetic, equilibrium, thermodynamic, and mechanistic evaluation of adsorption systems.
Treatment of industrial effluents and removal of organic and inorganic contaminants from water.
Research lines
The laboratory develops fundamental and applied studies across fourteen complementary research lines.
Current research program
The ongoing program investigates new cellulose-, chitosan-, clay-, silica-, and agro-residue-based materials for removing dyes, pharmaceuticals, hormones, and chemical-industry inputs from aquatic systems.
